Greetings from Hump Mountain
Located in southern West Virginia, Hump Mountain sits squarely in the heart of Appalachia – a remote area filled with impoverished beauty, century old traditions, coal mines, moonshine, ghost stories and lots of music.
It was a great place to come from. Music was everywhere. From porches and churches to roadhouse jukeboxes it was an essential part of everyday life. Especially country music! From Hank Williams to Conway Twitty, we loved it all. While classic country is a strong influence on Joe’s songs, he also finds inspiration from contemporary artists like Rodney Crowell, John Prine and Guy Clark.
Joe currently lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he performs under the stage name “Russell Feathers”. In 2013 he helped form the band Possum. He is a member of the Americana Music Association, The Nashville Songwriters Association International and Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI).
“One to watch.”

“Clever, sharp and funny.”

The best songwriter you’ve never heard of, yet…Joe McClure’s country-soaked songs are masterpieces of wit, pathos and honky-tonk detail.
